Rugby Tournament

On Wednesday some of room 08 went and played rugby at Bruce Pulman and Bairds Mainfreight girls came first and the boys came second. We had five girl teams that we played and we were unbeaten.We all had fun and we got a trophy.The girls get to go to Eden Park to play again for champions of champions.We  all supported everyone and we never gave up and everyone participated. Playing rugby is the best thing that has happened to all of us.

Cricket

 Today we went to cricket and meet Lilly and Ella our coaches for cricket.We learnt to aim to our partner, catch the ball like our hands were a cup and the green ball was the water. We also learnt how to throw the ball at the wicket and knock it down to the ground.Today was a fun and exciting day for all of us.

My Annoying Sister - By Mafoa

Mafoa is focused and works very hard at writing time. He is proud that he is using more conjunctions in his writing to extend his sentences, and wants to work on including more information and examples about the things the character does.

Red Nose Day Breakfast

Today was Red Nose Day and we had a PJ mufti day. In the morning room 8 were making breakfast in the class and

we had eggs, milk shakes, weetbix with fruit salad and some spaghetti and toast on the side.

Our teacher Miss Bedford gave the whole class a job and after all of the cooking we ate it and  it was delicious .

Things we love - Google Slides

Room 8 have been learning how to create a Google Slide. We worked with a buddy to create a slide about something we really like at the moment. We were surprised at how easy it was to do. Hopefully with some more practice, we will be able to use more of the features on Google slides.

CSI - Microscopes

Room 08 have been learning about microscopes. We learnt how to turn it on and how to use it. We got a little box of equipment to use. There were lots of different things such as tweezers, slides, a magnifying glass,labels and a short stick with a sharp end. We collected some items to look at through the microscope but we had to adjust the focus first to be able to see through properly. My favourite item to look at was a leaf and a little piece of carpet. It was fun and we all wish to do it again!

CSI - Mystery substances 2

ON THURSDAY WE WERE TESTING DIFFERENT LIQUIDS,TO SEE IF THEY WOULD REACT TO ANYTHING. TO KEEP OURSELVES SAFE WHILE WORKING WITH CHEMICALS, WE WATCHED A VIDEO ABOUT SAFETY. WE TRIED LOTS OF DIFFERENT THINGS TO SEE WHICH ONE WOULD REACT. THE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE REACTED TO THE YEAST IT BUBBLED UP. WE ALSO DID A PH TEST. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT A PH TEST IS IT IS A TEST THAT INVOLVES LITTLE PIECES OF PAPER AND WHEN YOU PUT IT IN TO A LIQUID IT CHANGES COLOURS . TO SEE IF IT IS ACID, NEUTRAL OR BASE. IT WAS COOL BEING SCIENTISTS.

Swimming - lesson 2.

On Thursday we learnt how to glide, blow bubbles,and breath underneath the clear water.                  We also got split into 3 groups - group 1, group 2, and group 3, before we got into the water.

We were also learning to do freestyle and breathe while we are swimming.

We had a great time at swimming today!

CSI - Mystery substances

Today we had our first chemistry lesson and we learnt about white powders. It was a messy place to be because some of the powders spilled! The powders that we experimented with were sugar, salt, baking soda and last but not least cornstarch.
We noticed that some of the powders changed when we mixed different liquids with them.
The cornstarch went black when we added the iodine and it became very sticky.
When we added the vinegar to the baking soda it fizzed up.
