Cup Challenge

Today we tried a new challenge. This one involved using string and a rubber band to create towers with plastic cups. The rule was that we couldn't touch the plastic cups with our hands.

This was a very difficult challenge which required patience, concentration and lots of fantastic communication.

There we many excited cheers when each group completed their challenge.

Amiria said that she felt good working with her team because they spoke nicely to each other and had fun.

Darnell said his team weren't that good at communicating at the beginning and their tower keep falling down, but they got better and better as they went along.

Joanna said it was tricky and frustrating then they couldn't get the cup to sit straight and it kept falling off, but she didn't feel like giving up.

Etheus said his team were good at communicating when they should pull the strings.

Welcome Back!

Welcome to 2019! In Room 8 we are excited to be back and we are ready for a great year of learning and fun.

The beginning of the year is all about developing our teamwork skills and creating a shared vision for the type of classroom we want to have.

On Wednesday we brainstormed what great teamwork should look like, sound like and feel like. We then had the chance to put this to the test during the egg drop teamwork challenge.
In small teams, children were given a bag containing a range of materials they could use to create packaging that would stop an egg from breaking when dropped from 2 metres.

This involved planning, creativity and of course lots of great teamwork skills. Check us out...

Next it was time to test out our packaging! As a class we decided to step the challenge up a notch and instead of a 2 metre drop, we would drop it from the top of the ladder!

Congratulations to Sovea, Pita, Joanna an Trevor for protecting their egg from such a big drop and to everyone else for demonstrating such wonderful teamwork skills.
